pediatric care services2011 Influenza Vaccine Update October 3, 2011

For those with regular insurance, we still have injectable flu vaccine for children ages 6 months and older as well as the nasal flumist for children ages 2 years and up. If interested, please call our office at (614)508-2223.

We've also received a small amount of our allotted flu vaccine from VFC for patients with Caresourse, Molina or Medicaid. We anticipate receiving more flu vaccine from VFC in the future. Until we receive more vaccine, we are only able to provide vaccine for our VFC-eligible patients at the time of their well check appointments. If interested, please call our office at (614)508-2223.

In accordance with the recommendations from the AAP Section on Nephrology Executive Committee [Committee on Practice and Ambulatory Medicine and Bright Futures Steering Committee. Pediatrics. 2007; 120(6): 1376 and Sekhar DL, et al. Pediatrics. 2010; 125: 660-663], routine urinalysis testing will no longer be required for asymptomatic patients during well-child examinations at our office.

As always, we can continue to check a urinalysis for those children with urinary issues or symptoms, such as painful urination, bed wetting, or blood in the urine or if it is required for a particular sports/school physical. Feel free to discuss any concerns with Drs. Leymaster, Wodarcyk or Yaw at the time of your visit.

Gardisil Update

Gardisil, the vaccine developed to prevent cervical cancer caused by certain strains of HPV, has been ordered and may now be given for all girls ages 12 and up. If interested, please call our office at (614) 508-2223 to schedule an appointment.

 Attention Patients with CareSource or Molina!!!

In order for us to provide appropriate follow-up for laboratory results, urgent care visits and referrals, it is important that you make sure that one of our physicians is designated as your child's caregiver. We encourage you to contact your case manager or your insurance company directly (CareSource 1-800-488-0134, Molina 1-800-642-4168) and ask if your primary care physician be changed to Dr. Leymaster, Dr. Wodarcyk or Dr. Yaw.

If you have private insurance and your policy requires a designated primary care physician, please contact your insurance company directly to ensure that one of our physicians is listed on your card.
